A Local Sale is defined as the sale of agri-food products from land or livestock, or that have undergone some process of elaboration or transformation, directly to the end consumer or through an intermediary. Two further concepts should be explained: direct sale, where the product is sold directly to the consumer, and local distribution, where the product sold to the consumer via an intermediary.

This initiative is being promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, to which the Molí d’Alcanó, part of the Fruits de Ponent Cooperative Group, is affiliated, with the aim of increasing the sale of food from farms located in Catalonia.

All the products participating in this initiative can be identified by the Local Sale logo, symbolising the sale distribution route by means of an arrow pointing towards four lines that represent the territory. The logo also includes the decree that regulates this activity.

The initiative does not include products found in the natural environment, in other words those that originate outside of a farm, nor does it include private consumption of a farmer’s own production, their own processed products or unpackaged raw milk or meat from animals that have not been slaughtered in authorised slaughterhouses.

Where to buy

Products identified with the Local Sale logo can be purchased directly on a farm, in producers’ agro-shops, in local markets, fairs or in online stores.

Local distribution products can be purchased in retail stores, agro-shops, tourist locations and restaurants.
